Person Hit by Train in Lincoln


Lincoln- A man was hit by a train in Lincoln Friday night.

The Logan county coroner said, it happened in the 600 block of Sangamon Street, around 6:47 p.m.

An autopsy for 58-year-old Thomas Pegram was performed on Saturday. Pegram died from blunt force trauma to the head. Police are awaiting a toxicology.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Pegram was lying on the rail road tracks prior to being struck. It is unknown whether this incident was intentional, if Pegram suffered from medical conditions or if alcohol or drugs contributed to his death.   

A spokesperson for Amtrak said, the train departed from Chicago and was heading to San Antonio. 

Lincoln police are still investigating.
