Lincoln Presidential Half Marathon celebrates 50th anniversary

Springfield - The 50th anniversary of the Lincoln Presidential Half Marathon takes place this Saturday.
Participants will travel along a 13.1 mile route through Springfield from approximately 7:30 a.m. until 11. Several downtown streets will be closed beginning at 6 a.m. on Saturday, including 5th at Jefferson, 6th Street from Cook Street north to Madison Street, Washington at 4th, and Capitol from Eighth Street to Second Street. SMTD bus stops will be affected overnight on Washington and Saturday morning on Capitol.

The Springfield Road Runners Club organizes the race and the Prairie Heart Institute at St. John's Hospital is the presenting sponsor. The official charity is Hospital Sisters Mission Outreach.
More than 29 states and five countries will be represented by participating runners.
