Crash shuts down Eastbound traffic on Interstate 74
Champaign - Three vehicles were involved in a serious crash on Interstate 74, Thursday morning.
A red truck tractor was traveling westbound on I-74 passing an uninvolved semi. The driver told police his truck was struck by high winds from the rain storm while passing the semi. The driver turned hitting a median, then hitting a IDOT truck and a semi head on.
The driver of the IDOT vehicle and the semi truck were taken to Carle Hospital with serious injuries. The driver who hit the median was taken to Carle Hospital with minimal injuries. None of the injuries were life threatening.
I-74 Eastbound traffic was diverted off of I-74, to Rt. 150, westbound traffic was reduced to one lane while crews worked to clear the scene. All lanes are now open to traffic.
Illinois State Police continue their investigation.
