EFFINGHAM - A man who grew up in central Illinois was one of four people killed in this week's shootings in Fort Hood, Texas.
Army Sergeant Timothy Owens, 37, died during Wednesday's shooting.
Owens grew up in Effingham before moving to Missouri. He was a newlywed; his wedding was in August.
Sixteen people were injured during Wednesday's shooting. Authorities say the gunman shot and killed three people before turning the gun on himself.
The suspect has been identified as a soldier who had served in Iraq. There is no known motive for the shootings; however, officials said the soldier "had behavioral health and mental health" issues.
