Illinois hires firm to reopen resort's golf course
FINDLAY, Ill. (AP) -- The Illinois Department of Natural Resources says it has hired an Indiana company to reopen and run the golf course at a state-owned resort in eastern Illinois that closed in 2009.
The agency said Tuesday that Green Golf Partners of Danville, Ind., will reopen the course at Eagle Creek on Lake Shelbyville on Friday.
The agency still needs to determine the future of the rest of the resort. It closed after extensive mold was found. A Decatur-based company hired to reopen it backed out last month.
Green Golf manages several Illinois golf courses, including the University of Illinois course in Savoy.
DNR spokesman Chris Young says terms of the deal are still being worked out. Green Golf will start work under what Young called an emergency contract.
