Dish Network scam targeting residents in Piatt County
The Piatt County Sheriff's Office is warning residents of a Dish Network scam.
Police have received calls regarding individuals portraying employees of Dish Network. The fake employee tells the customers they need to upgrade their equipment and asks them to schedule a service date.
The individual gives a name and an ID number to attempt to gain credibility, to get information from your credit card.
Dish Network does not announce upgrades in this manner. The Piatt County Sheriff's Office would like area residents to be aware of this scam and take necessary precautions if they are called.
