Students Learn to Dress Their Best

DECATUR-A nurse from Phoenix Academy got a grant trying to help the community school and students. Their goal: to get students ready for the working world by looking their best.

Tuesday at Phoenix Academy  was no regular day at school.  One room transformed into a barber shop.  Another room became a beauty salon where students could learn to apply makeup.  Another still, transformed into a dentist's office. The gym, a place where students could focus on exercise and eating healthy.

All of this at the alternative school is to show students that outer appearances and a healthy lifestyle can make a big difference in their futures.  And that taking care of yourself, is a good quality prospective employers seek out.

The thousand dollar grant made all this possible at no cost to the students.
