RANTOUL - A man was arrested early Sunday morning in Rantoul after he allegedly drove his car into the front of a house. Reginald Allen was charged with driving under the influence, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and leaving the scene of an accident.
Police say the car struck the porch, porch railing, and brick support of the house at approximately 4:00 a.m. Although the speed limit in that neighborhood is 25 miles per hour, a witness to the accident estimated the speed of Allen's car to be between 50-60 miles per hour. Rantoul firefighters were called to the scene due to the structural damage inflicted to the house. No one was inside at the time of the accident and no injuries were reported, however total damage has been estimated to be more than $500.
