Decatur - State Senator Chapin Rose, (R) Mahomet, thinks ADM's Inland Port has great long term potential.
"This is really a game changer when it comes to jobs," Rose told WAND News. "Not just for the short term. For the next 50 years."
The Inland Port allows business and industry to ship large containers of their products by rail and truck. Wednesday economic development and business leaders from across Illinois gathered to see how the port could help their businesses.
One economic development leader from Champaign told Senator Rose the port may be able to help companies like Kraft ship their products.
"Every macaroni noodle consumed in North America is processed at Kraft in Champaign," said Senator Rose. "And, what would be good for them, for their transporation center, would ultimately be great for Decatur."
