Ameren Illinois Requests Rate Hikes To Pay For Upgrades
ILLINOIS - Ameren Illinois has filed a request for a $206 million rate hike to help pay for upgrades to its electricity power grid.
New customer meters will start being installed this summer, equipped with upgrades that will help Ameren Illinois detect and isolate outages faster. That would mean a 8.3 percent increase, or about $6.37 extra on monthly bills in central Illinois.
If the request is successful, the new rates would go into effect in January.
