Man convicted in Danville triple murder

Posted:
DANVILLE, Ill. (AP) - A jury in Danville has convicted a 29-year-old man of first-degree murder in three drug-related killings in the town in 2007.

Jurors spent just over three hours deliberating Wednesday before deciding that Jerome Harris was guilty in the March 2007 slayings. The victims were 30-year-old Rodney Pepper of Chicago, and 21-year-old Ta'Breyon McCullough and 19-year-old Madisen Leverenz of Danville.

Harris faces a mandatory life sentence. He is already serving 25 years in state prison for drug-related crimes.

Mac Leverenz is Madisen Leverenz's father. He said after the verdict that his family will never get over his daughter's death.
Testimony indicated the victims were shot over stolen money and cocaine.

Another man, Freddell L. Bryant of Chicago, was convicted of murder in 2012 in the three shootings.
