Petition filed to lift jailed isolation of man with tuberculosis
Champaign - A man with tuberculosis sent to jail for violating a judges order to stay inside is cooperating.
The Assistant State's Attorney has filed a petition to lift an isolation order against Christian Ibanda, because he is no longer infectious. Ibanda was jailed on a petition for failing to follow a courts order for him to remain isolated while he was contagious with tuberculosis.
Ibanda has received the minimum two week treatment. Once he is released he will be monitored for the seven more months, TB medication will be delivered to his home so a public health nurse can watch him take his medication.
