New Location For Springfield And Central Illinois African-American History Museum
SPRINGFIELD - The Springfield and Central Illinois African-American History Museum is moving to a new location. The museum has temporarily moved to the Strawbridge-Shepard House on the University of Illinois Springfield campus, at 5255 Shepard Road. They will be joining their neighbors, the Illinois State Historical Society.
Exhibits and activities will be organized at the temporary location, while oral histories that were compiled by volunteers are stored in the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library, and can be reviewed by visiting the Presidential Library's Oral History web page. A permanent location for the museum has not been finalized yet, but is expected to be announced soon.
