LAKE SHELBYVILLE - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be holding an open house at Lake Point Campground on May 9 and May 10. Visitors will be able to camp at one of 78 site for free while enjoying some of the renovations within the park.
Improvements to the campground include electric upgrades to some sites, comfort station painting and re-roofing, a new park entrance and fee booth, roadside and campsite pruning, and a fire pit constructed within the Walleye Group Camp.
Free camping will be available from Thursday, May 8 through Wednesday, May 14 on a first come, first serve basis. Several activities have been scheduled for the open house, such as a glow in the dark scavenger hunt, wiener roast, and family movie night.
