SPRINGFIELD - The University of Illinois announced its annual Day at the Capitol will take place Wednesday, May 14. Throughout the day, University trustees and leaders plan to lobby at the State Capitol. University President Robert Easter will also take part in the effort.
Lawmakers are regularly pressed by the university about its budget and other subjects such as public-pension cuts and state appropriations. The university relies on public funds, however the state's share of its budget has shrunk to less than 20 percent over the years.
A university trustees meeting will follow the day of lobbying.
