Committee approves measure to donate items to Obama's presidential library
SPRINGFIELD - Illinois legislators hope to donate furniture and other state-owned items linked to Barack Obama's service in the state Senate when his presidential library is built. A measure was passed by the Illinois Senate Executive Committee on Wednesday that would allow the donation of a chair used by Obama.
The chair is currently housed in Senate President John Cullerton's office, while other Obama-related items are in storage. Cullerton says it's better to donate the furniture than sell it.
The bill now moves to the Senate floor for consideration.
