NASCAR driver visits Illinois Capitol to promote ethanol fuel blends

SPRINGFIELD - An award-winning NASCAR driver made an appearance at the state Capitol Wednesday to promote higher blends of ethanol fuel.  Kenny Wallace visited Illinois lawmakers in an effort to push for more E-15 fuel blends in the state.

E-15 is made up of 85 percent gasoline and 15 percent ethanol.  Lower blends are more common throughout the state.  Since 2011, NASCAR has exclusively used E-15 fuel for its practices, qualifications, and races.

Increased use of higher ethanol would help Illinois farmers and lower emissions, according to Wallace.
