Underage alcohol use to be discussed in Monticello

MONTICELLO - A town meeting to discuss underage alcohol use will be hosted by the Piatt County Mental Health Center's Prevention Education Program.  The event, "Reality and Risks of Drugs," will be held May 20, 2014 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Kirby Medical Center in Monticello.  The public is invited to attend.

Prevention and substance abuse professionals will highlight key issues when it comes to youth, drug use, and abuse though educational presentations.  State-wide and local drug statistics will be revealed, along with tips on how to talk to young people about drugs.  Local law enforcement officers will discuss how social media has influenced the knowledge and access of events where underage alcohol use is happening.  Finally, a panel of youth from Piatt County will talk about why they stay drug free and how they can help others make good choices.
