Firefighters to conduct live-fire training at Urbana apartment complex

URBANA - Firefighters from 15 departments will participate in a live-fire training exercise at Urbana's Lierman Avenue apartment buildings on Thursday, May 22 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.  The training is part of the Illinois Fire Service Institute's Fire Attack and Suppression Techniques class, and is designed to equip firefighters with techniques on attacking fires.

The exercise will be similar to those performed recently by the Urbana Fire Department at the units, stopping short of burning the entire building down.  The public is cautioned to avoid the area for safety reasons.
