Free admission to presidential library and museum offered to military service members
SPRINGFIELD - Military service members and their families will be able to visit the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum for free this summer. The new policy was announced by Governor Pat Quinn in s news release Wednesday. Approximately 2,000 museums across the nation will do the same.
Illinois Historic Preservation Agency director Amy Martin says service members make sacrifices for the country, and that it's an honor to offer them free admission. The library will also host parties to thank troops, which will include activities for children and Civil War re-enactors.
Free admission for those who qualify will be from May 26 to September 1. Service members must show a form of identification.
