Measure allowing donation of items to Obama library passes Legislature
SPRINGFIELD - A measure that would allow furniture and other state-owned items linked to Barack Obama to be loaned or given to his presidential library and museum has been approved by the Illinois Legislature.
The House voted unanimously Tuesday in favor of the legislation, which passed the Senate earlier this month.
Obama served in the Illinois Senate before becoming a U.S. Senator and the nation's president. The chair he used in the Senate is currently housed in Senate President John Cullerton's office, while other items are in storage.
The measure now goes to Governor Pat Quinn for his signature.
