McLean County Museum of History requests funding for tourism center
BLOOMINGTON - A tourism center in McLean County that would focus on the area's Route 66 history and Abraham Lincoln heritage could be in the works. The McLean County Museum of History would construct the center, and are requesting bids to help that process along.
Greg Koos, the executive director of the museum, says that the museum has also applied for a nearly $250,000 state tourism grant to help fund the project. The Bloomington-Normal Area Visitors and Convention Bureau would pay for the rest of the project.
Koos says that he hopes the project could be finished within 90 days. Bids are due June 17.
