Carle and Champaign County host family safety fair
URBANA - Safe Kids Champaign County and Carle Foundation Hospital will host their 18th annual Playing It Safe family safety fair at the Champaign County Fairgrounds on Saturday, June 7 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission and all activities are free.
The fair provides an opportunity to learn one-on-one from nurses, firefighters, police officers, EMTs, and many experts. More than 40 interactive learning stations will focus on safety awareness in a fun environment.
Playing It Safe will also feature tornado safety and community disaster education, fire truck tours and fire safety house, bicycle inspections and bicycle helmet sales, dogs from a police K-9 unit, SWAT Team and Bomb Squad Robot, a drive-thru for certified car seat safety checks, and free child identification kits.
Attendees are encouraged to ride bikes to the event and park in the secured bike corral. Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District will provide free transportation to the event with a Playing It Safe flier. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
