Champaign to hold opening ceremony for Summer Youth Employment Program

CHAMPAIGN - The Summer Youth Employment Program will hold an opening ceremony in the Centennial High School Aldridge Auditorium on Monday, June 9 at 1:00 p.m.

Champaign Unit 4 School District Superintendent Dr. Judy Wiegand and Mayor Don Gerard will join city council and board of education members in attending this ceremony.  The keynote speaker for the event will be city of Champaign Township Supervisor Andy Quarnstrom  All Summer Youth Employment Program students, their families, and SYEP business partners will also be present.

The Summer Youth Employment Program provides career exploration and job training opportunities to youth in Champaign Unit 4 schools through the completion of a six-week job placement program with a local business.  The program works with over 65 local businesses and will serve approximately 150 students this year.
