Danville man sentenced to life in prison for triple homicide

DANVILLE - A Danville man has been sentenced to life in prison in an eastern Illinois triple killing.

In a Vermilion County courtroom on Monday, Jerome Harris, 29, rolled his eyes, yawned, and laughed while the victims' relatives described their lives without their loved ones.

Circuit Judge Nancy Fahey deemed Harris' behavior towards the victims' relatives "despicable," and said his reaction reflected a lack of remorse about the 2007 shooting deaths of Rodney Pepper, 30, Ta'Breyon McCullough, 21, and Madisen Leverenz, 19.

Harris was convicted in April and faced a mandatory life sentence.  He was already serving 25 years in prison for drug-related crimes.
