Bloomington zoo using state grant money to make improvements
BLOOMINGTON - A zoo in Bloomington will use a $700,000 grant to pay for parking, a new monkey exhibit, and other work.
The Miller Park Zoo received the money from the Illinois Public Museum Capital Grant Program. The state capital program Illinois Jobs Now generated the funds for the grant program.
According to superintendent Jay Tetzloff, the zoo will add a DeBrazza's monkey in an exhibit that is expected to open in 2016. The zoo also plans to add parking and renovate the zoo's entrance building.
Miller Park will celebrate its 123rd anniversary on Saturday.
