Free fishing clinics offered in Decatur

DECATUR - Free fishing clinics for individuals and groups are being offered at Fairview Park in Decatur.  The program is designed to teach people how to fish and is sponsored by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and the Decatur Park District.

Two clinics will be held daily, Monday through Friday, from June 9 until August 1.  The morning session begins at 9:00 a.m., and the afternoon session will begin at 1:00 p.m.  Each session is estimated to last 2.5 hours, and fishing equipment and bait will be provided.

Participants can attend more than once and families are encouraged to attend.  A fishing license is not required.  Participants will meet at the large pavilion for a lesson, and actual fishing will follow at Dreamland Pond.

You can register by calling the Decatur Park District at (217) 422-5911.
