Huge party in Athens to raise money for Africa trip

ATHENS - The Athens Community Park Building will be host to a huge party on July 11 that will help one local family travel to Sierra Leone in Africa.  The party begins at 5 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m.

Food will be served all evening, with hot dogs, hamburgers, ribeyes, chips, drinks, desserts and Frostbite shaved ice treats being sold.  At 6 p.m., a live auction will be held, featuring handmade furniture, a tattoo, Frostbite birthday party, photo session, quilt, free concealed carry class, baked goods, restaurant gift cards, and various baskets for families and kids.

At 7 p.m., a trivia event will begin, giving teams the chance to earn money.  The cost is $10 a person, or $60 for a table.  Up to 10 people can be in a team.  Tickets for a 50/50 drawing will also be available for $3 each or $15 for six.  The drawing will be held at the end of the evening.

The Millers will be working with the Lifegate in Africa Bibletelling School in Sierra Leone.  If you cannot make it to the event but wish to support them with a donation, call Sarah Miller at (217) 828-1576.
