American Red Cross asking central Illinois residents to donate blood

ILLINOIS - The American Red Cross is asking residents in central Illinois to donate blood to help prevent a summer shortage.  The organization has seen fewer appointments at its blood donation centers and blood drives this summer than what is needed to ensure the availability of blood and platelets for patients.

We've included a list of local Red Cross blood donation opportunities from July 16-31.

Upcoming blood donation opportunities:

Logan County:

July 16 from 12-5 p.m. at Lincoln Sports Complex, 1400 Primm Road in Lincoln, Ill.

Macon County:

July 17 from 12-6 p.m. at American Red Cross, 2674 N. Main St. in Decatur, Ill.

July 19 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Macon County Farm Bureau, 1150 W. Pershing in Decatur, Ill.

July 22 from 2-6 p.m. at American Red Cross, 2674 N. Main St. in Decatur, Ill.

July 24 from 12-6 p.m. at American Red Cross, 2674 N. Main St. in Decatur, Ill.

July 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hickory Point Mall, Route 51 North in Forsyth, Ill.

July 28 from 12-6 p.m. at Lion's Club, 1595 W. Main St. in Mount Zion, Ill.

July 29 from 2-6 p.m. at American Red Cross, 2674 N. Main St. in Decatur, Ill.
