Decatur teen sentenced to 55 years for first-degree murder

DECATUR - A Decatur teenager that was convicted of a 2011 murder will spend the next 55 years behind bars.  Delmont Thomas was sentenced Wednesday.  

Thomas is accused of shooting Brian Carney, 41, in the head at 16th and Clay streets in Decatur on December 14, 2011.  He was found guilty of first degree murder on May 9, 2014.

Thomas must serve 100% of his sentence.
