Orlando, FL (PRWEB) July 10, 2014
The dinner supports the mission of the Franciscans of the Holy Land which is to preserve the Christian presence in the Holy Land.
Fox is a 26-year-veteran reporter and anchor at WESH 2 News, Orlando. He is also a 2012 winner of an Emmy award from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
Keynote speaker for the event will be the Minister Provincial of the Immaculate Conception Province of the Franciscan friars of the Third Order Regular, Monsignor Patrick Quinn, TOR. Msgr. Quinn also serves as the Pastor of Our Lady Star of the Sea in New Smyrna Beach, FL.
Ordained in 1984, Quinn taught at the Saint Paul Seminary at the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, MN. For four years he served as the Director of San Pedro Spiritual Development Center. He was then elected Minister Provincial.
The dinner is scheduled for September 27 and will take place at The Westin Lake Mary, Orland North in Lake Mary, FL. A cocktail reception with hors d'oeuvres and a silent auction prior to a formal dinner will begin at 6:00 p.m. Dress will be cocktail attire.
Ticket Price: $65.00/person. Table sponsorship: $500/table.
Regional representative, Faith Libbe, is the chief organizer of the FFHL benefit dinner. According to Faith, she is excited to host the first-ever benefit dinner in her region for the Franciscan Foundation for the Holy Land.
When asked why she had organized the dinner, which also marks the 20th Anniversary of the Franciscan Foundation for the Holy Land, Faith said,
In midst of the stones of these holiest of sites, we also discovered that there are Living Stones... the living, breathing, Body of Christ, who are struggling greatly in the midst of conflict. We cannot forget them and we want to encourage our fellow Christians in the Orlando area to join us in reaching out to them through the 14 different programs of the FFHL.
Faith said that she has hosted fundraisers in the past but never a benefit dinner. She hopes to have between 150-200 guests.
Our hope is to raise enough money at this dinner to sponsor another university student. In 2012, according to Faith, our region was blessed to raise enough money to sponsor a university student named Carine.
University scholarships in the Holy Land for Christian students average $6000/yr., according to the FFHL website.
That is not all she hopes to raise money for, however. On top of that my hope would also be to raise funds for the Annual Christmas Party in Bethlehem, a cause very near and dear to my heart.
The party provides Christian children of the Holy Land with Christmas gifts they would otherwise not be afforded.
In addition to Greg Fox and Msgr. Quinn, honored guests will include Fr. Peter Vasko, ofm, President of the Franciscan Foundation for the Holy Land, who will deliver remarks on the progress of the Foundation and the current state of Christians in the Holy Land.
Faith also hopes to receive confirmations from Bishop John Noonan, Diocese of Orlando, as well as other local priests.
