Heavy rains drenched the city of Mahomet early Sunday Morning.Where people are dealing with more damage.Water restoration workers responded to more than 30 emergency calls for service. Some basements near ponds filled up with six feet of water. Aaron Smith works for a local water clean-up company and was on duty all afternoon. He said the rain was pouring too fast for sump pumps to handle the load.
"There's a lot of generator back-ups for your sump pit, but in this particular scenario, that wouldn't have paid off because the water was just coming in faster than they can pump it," said Smith.
