CHAMPAIGN - A groundbreaking ceremony marking the beginning of a renovation and expansion project will be held on Monday, July 14 at 4:30 p.m. at Kenwood Elementary School in Champaign.
The $4.4 million project will begin this summer, and new features at the school will include a separate gym and cafeteria, updated technology and infrastructure, expanded parking, and a new secured front entrance. Classrooms and the school's library will also see extensive updates.
Kenwood Elementary will be housed at the former Carrie Busey Elementary School for the 2014-2015 year. The project will be completed in the fall of 2015, and Kenwood will return to its building following the fall 2015 intersession.
