WHITE HALL, Ill. (AP) - Authorities say a Greene County man was being treated for life-threatening injuries at a Springfield hospital after a Sunday afternoon shooting.
The (Alton) Telegraph reported Monday (http://bit.ly/1qb1d7s ) that sheriff's police responded about 3 p.m. to a White Hall home. They found a 60-year-old man with a single gunshot to the chest. He was unconscious.
Authorities are not identifying the man. He was taken to Thomas H. Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton and then flown to Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
The sheriff's report says a woman who lived at the residence was home at the time.
Illinois State Police officials are assisting in the investigation. No arrests have been made.
White Hall is about 50 miles northeast of St. Louis.
