Quincy man charged with first-degree murder

QUINCY - In an update to a story WAND brought you yesterday, a Quincy man now faces charges of first-degree murder after the man whose throat he is accused of slashing died.

On Monday, prosecutors upgraded the attempted first-degree murder charge that Alex T. Koehler, 27, was facing to first-degree murder.  Koehler is accused of slashing the throat of Robert J. Owens, 56, last Wednesday.  Owens died on Saturday.

Koehler was arrested Wednesday afternoon shortly after police found Owens gravely injured.  Police say that they recovered the knife that was allegedly used in the attack.  Prosecutors say the two men knew each other.

Koehler is due back in court August 6.  He remains in jail on $1 million bond.
