Ashmore receives $18,750 rural development grant

SPRINGFIELD - United States Senator Dick Durbin has announced that a central Illinois rural development project received a grant worth nearly $19,000.

Durbin's office says the U.S. Department of Agriculture awarded the grant to the village of Ashmore to support water and waste infrastructure construction projects and planning.  An engineering report on ways to address the village's storm water drainage system is also expected to be funded by the grant.

According to Durbin, the investment will "help create local good paying jobs" and protect public health, safety, and welfare.
