Lincoln Tomb documentary to be made by Iowa filmmaker

SPRINGFIELD - An Iowa filmmaker is partnering with the Lincoln Monument Association to make a documentary about Abraham Lincoln's tomb in Springfield, Illinois.

Le Claire, Iowa resident Chris Ryder is creating the film to mark the 150th anniversary of Lincoln's death.  Ryder says he came up with the idea for the documentary while watching videos about Lincoln's Tomb online.

A crowd-funding website will be used by organizers to pay for the film.  The video's projected maximum budget is $50,000.

Ryder says the documentary will start with the arrival of Lincoln's funeral train in Springfield in 1865.  The documentary will include the construction of the tomb, the attempted theft of Lincoln's body, and numerous times the body was moved due to a low water table.
