Wind turbine repairs being considered by Springfield Park District
SPRINGFIELD - Steps are being taken by the Springfield Park District to fix a dysfunctional Southwind Park wind turbine.
According to the district director, the district has asked companies to submit proposals for repairing and upgrading the issue-prone turbine.
Funds to pay for the turbine's installation in April 2011 included a $50,000 grant and about $100,000 from the park district. The director says the company that produced the turbine is no longer in business.
The director also says the cost to fix the turbine won't be known until the district finishes collecting proposals from companies at the beginning of August.
