2 Illinois gang members plead guilty to conspiracy to distribute drugs

PEORIA - Two Illinois gang members pleaded guilty in federal court on Tuesday to conspiring to distribute drugs.

Deona White, 24, and Aeiral Yarbrough, 26, face up to 20 years in prison for conspiring to distribute cocaine, marijuana, and heroin.

White and Yarbrough were charged by prosecutors as part of a crackdown on the Zone 4 street gang in October.  Fourteen men were indicted on various conspiracy charges, and 10 await trial.  Two other men pleaded guilty to similar conspiracy charges last month.

The crackdown was part of Peoria's Don't Shoot anti-gang initiative.  City officials have said Peoria has more than 10 active street gangs and over 400 known gang members.
