Farmers' market prices being surveyed by University of Illinois Extension Service
URBANA - Prices at farmers' markets around the state are now being surveyed regularly by the University of Illinois Extension Service.
Eleven farmers' markets around Illinois will be surveyed as part of a three-state effort that includes Tennessee and Kentucky. The University of Kentucky Center of Crop Diversification will post the weekly price surveys on their website.
The surveys allow produce farmers to have information on what prices look like across the region. Deborah Cavanaugh-Grant, an Extension educator, said the price data should help farmers set prices at competitive levels.
