New fundraising record set for Illinois State University

CHICAGO - Illinois State University has announced that it set a fundraising record for the fiscal year that ended on June 30.

The Normal-based school raised a record $19.5 million, significantly higher than the $14.8 million raised over the previous year.

Over 10,400 alumni offered some sort of gift to the university during the fiscal year, including two donations of $1 million or more.

In a statement, ISU President Larry Dietz said that the fundraising success will help the school "accomplish its mission."

The money raised will go toward various programs and projects, including student scholarships and endowed faculty positions.
