Eastern Illinois Parrot Head Club to host benefit concert

CHAMPAIGN - The Eastern Illinois Parrot Head Club has chosen Developmental Services Center as the beneficiary to its tenth-annual "C-U in the Prairibbean" benefit concert, which takes place on August 2 at the Orpheum Children's Science Museum in downtown Champaign.

The event will begin at 5:30 p.m., with tickets costing $10.  The tickets can be purchased in advance online at http://www.dsc-illinois.org/events_fundraisers/cu_in_the_prairibbean.html, www.eiphc.org, or by calling DSC at (217) 356-9176.

Food and beverages will be available, and lawn chairs are welcome for those who wish to bring them.  Bands that will be featured this year include "Appaloosa," "The Tons O' Fun Band," and "The Boat Drunks."

In addition to the main event, Eastern Illinois Parrot Head Club is offering a $5,000 cash raffle, presented by First State Bank.  Tickets are $5 each or five for $20, and can be purchased online at http://www.dsc-illinois.org/events_fundraisers/cu_in_the_prairibbean.html or by calling DSC at 217.356.9176, Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  The winner will be drawn the night of the event, and all proceeds will benefit DSC.

The Eastern Illinois Parrot Head Club was chartered in 2003 under The Parrot Heads in Paradise, a not-for-profit corporation that assists in community and environmental concerns.
