Christian Williams Enrolls at Lanphier, Will Play for Lions in 2014-2015

DECATUR -- St. Teresa's loss is Lanphier's gain, as one of the tops basketball players in Macon County will now move to the CS8.

Springfield's Channel 1450 first reported on Wednesday, senior-to-be Christian Williams enrolled in classes at Lanphier and will play for the Lions during the 2014-2015 season.  Williams spent that past three years at St. Teresa.

Lanphier head coach Blake Turner told WAND, "While I have yet to see him play, and just met him for the first time (Tuesday), we are excited to have him join our family."

Williams averaged 18.8 points, and 8.4 rebounds a game during his junior year at St. Teresa.  He'll filled a void left but Lanphier grad Larry Austin, Junior, but joins a team includes junior G Xavier Bishop and sophomore G Yaakema Rose - forming what will be considered one of the top backcourts in the state.

"We are eager to get him in the gym and start developing chemistry," Turner said.

Williams is already building an impressive recruiting profile, with offers from Bradley and Illinois State, among others.  He's also had interest - but no offers - from Illinois, Minnesota, and Iowa.
