Altamont man sentenced in woman's heroin overdose

EFFINGHAM -- An Altamont man sentenced Thursday morning for drug-induced homicide, for his role in a woman's heroin overdose.

Jay Miller, 23, will spend 17 years in prison, followed by three years of mandatory supervised release.

Back in June, a jury found Miller guilty of drug possession and drug-induced homicide in the February death of Jessica James, 29, of Effingham.

The Effingham state's attorney says Miller knowingly delivered the drugs to James before she overdosed.
