Decatur – As Richland Community College finishes up one construction project another one starts.
“We have one we’re getting ready to bid out at Richland Community College here in a couple of weeks.Their Student Success Center will be one of our projects,” said Jim Underwood of the state’s Capital Development Board.
The Student Success Center will be an expansion of the north wing on the main campus. The project will cost $3.5 million and will centralize student services in one location.
“Right now students have the opportunity to get lost looking for services,” Marcus Brown, Vice President of Student Services, told WAND News.“We want to be able to provide students with one spot that they can always come back and find the services they need.”
The new project comes as the Workforce Development Institute is nearing completion. It will hold classes for medium heavy trucks and auto collision repair.
Construction on the Student Success Center expansion will start in mid-October or early November.
