2 Illinois men arrested for illegally selling firearms
TINLEY PARK - Illinois State Police have made two arrests following a bust that found dozens of illegal weapons and multiple rounds of ammunition.
Agents from the Illinois State Police Firearms Investigation Unit, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Chicago Police Department, Tinley Police Department, and Orland Police Department worked together in an extensive, collaborative investigation of two subjects suspected of illegally selling firearms out of a residence in Tinley Park.
Police say on August 1, Thomas J. Burke, 42, and Daryl J. Mrkvicka, 72, were taken into custody without incident. Upon searching Mrkvicka's residence, police say they found 36 firearms and multiple rounds of ammunition, which were seized.
Mrkvicka was charged with unlawful sale of firearms and gunrunning. Burke was charged with conspiracy to commit gunrunning, conspiracy to commit unlawful sale of firearms, and solicitation to deface identification markings of a firearm. Both are being held at the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
