Banks in Illinois undecided on allowing firearms in their buildings

Posted:
CLINTON - Even though Illinois' concealed carry law went into effect several months ago, banks across the state are still undecided on whether or not people should be allowed to carry firearms into their institutions.

Under the state's concealed carry law, firearms are prohibited in places like schools, public parks, and hospitals.  However, banks aren't covered by the law, leaving the decision up to individual institutions.

Some banks have put up signs that show that firearms are not allows in their buildings, while others have not put those signs up.  The Illinois Bankers Association is taking into consideration concealed carry questions and concerns from banks around the state.
