Mattoon police seeking information on 2 armed robberies

MATTOON - The Mattoon Police Department is seeking assistance from the public in solving two separate armed robberies that happened on August 10 and August 11.

Mattoon police say they received a call of an armed robbery at Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken at about 9:02 p.m. on August 10.  Upon arriving, police were told that the alleged suspect entered the restaurant, displayed a firearm and demanded money.  The suspect then fled on foot, heading northbound, with an undisclosed amount of money.  Police say the suspect was described as a white male, about 5'7" or 5'8" tall with a slim to medium build.  The suspect was wearing a pink hooded sweatshirt, faded blue jeans, black tennis shoes, and a black ski mask.

On August 11 at about 5:02 a.m., Mattoon Police say they received a call of an armed robbery at Case's General Store located at 920 Charleston Avenue.  When officers arrived at the scene, they were told the alleged suspect entered the store , displayed a firearm, and demanded money.  The suspect then fled on foot, heading northbound again.  The suspect was described as a white male, 5'7" to 5'9" tall with a medium build.  The suspect was wearing a black T-shirt, black ski mask, blue jeans, and black and white tennis shoes.
