MATTOON - In an update to a story WAND brought to you yesterday, the Mattoon Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in identifying two persons of interest in the recent armed robberies that occurred on August 10 and August 11.
We've included a slide show of recently released pictures of these individuals, taken at Casey's General Store. Police say both suspects are wanted for questioning in these robberies, and are believed to be driving a white four-door SUV of an undetermined make and model. The suspect wearing the black T-shirt also has a tattoo in the center of the back of his neck.
Mattoon police say they received a call of an armed robbery at Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken at about 9:02 p.m. on August 10. Upon arriving, police were told that the alleged suspect entered the restaurant, displayed a firearm and demanded money. The suspect then fled on foot, heading northbound, with an undisclosed amount of money.
On August 11 at about 5:02 a.m., Mattoon Police say they received a call of an armed robbery at Case's General Store located at 920 Charleston Avenue. When officers arrived at the scene, they were told the alleged suspect entered the store , displayed a firearm, and demanded money. The suspect then fled on foot, heading northbound again.
