Effingham police investigating early-morning armed robbery

EFFINGHAM - The Effingham Police Department is investigating a report of an armed robbery that occurred on August 12, 2014.

According to police, at approximately 1:56 a.m. on Tuesday, an unknown white male entered the Econolodge, located at 1412 W. Fayette, and displayed a weapon.  The employee at the desk exited the rear of the building as the subject entered at the front.  An undetermined amount of cash was taken from the cash drawer.  No one was injured during the incident.

Police say the suspect was described as about five feet, eight inches tall with a thin build.  The suspect was wearing a black ski mask and short sleeved shirt.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Effingham City Police Department at (217) 347-0774 or Crime Stoppers at (217) 347-6583.
